educate
and
inform
communities

alcohol
related
liver
disease;
indicated
by
the
UEG
as
a
growing
concern, as below.

UEG
is
supporting
Awareness
Week
on
Alcohol
Related
Harm
(AWARH)
and
calls
for
greater
awareness
of
the
relationship
between
alcohol
and
liver
cancer.
Excessive
alcohol
consumption
can
lead
to
liver
cancer,
estimated
to
be
responsible
for
746,000
worldwide
deaths
each
year,
making
it
the
second
most
common
cause
of
cancer
death.
Europe
is
by
far
the
biggest
drinking
region
in the world.

Medicine

Gastroenterology,
said:
“Regular
heavy
alcohol
consumption can have a detrimental effect on your health.
Patients
often
have
no
idea
what
is
going
on
inside
their
bodies
as
outwardly
they
cannot
see
the
damage
they
are doing.”

are
visually
very
powerful
and
will
help
us
to
illustrate
the
progression
of
the
disease
to
patients
presenting
with
hazardous
alcohol
consumption
or
in
the
early
stages
of
the
condition
where
changing
behaviors’
can
halt
the
development
to
advanced
liver disease.”

which
has
been

Hamlyn
Centre
for
Design,
NHS
Innovations
